Sweet Filipino polvoron recipe

Ingredients:
3 cups sifted flour
1 cup sifted powdered milk
3/4 cup sifted sugar
1/2 cup pound melted butter
1 teaspoon lemon or vanilla extract
Toasted pinipig

Preparations:
1. Toast flour in a heavy skillet or saucepan over moderate heat until light brown, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and cool.
2. Add powdered milk, sugar, melted butter, pinipig, and lemon or vanilla extract.
3. Form little cakes the diameter of a silver dollar but about a quarter-inch high.
4. Wrap individually in wax paper.

    we experiment a polvoron out of red beans .. & our teacher advised us to put chocolate coating .. we’ve been in many erors & trials .. and d last time we made the chocolate was not glassy , wat should we do ?!

    hello…
    i’d like to know if we could use coffeemate instead of the powdered milk? we have lots and were not coffee drinkers. will wait for your reply…thank you

    @hazel: i made these with nondairy creamer tonight- they are hurting my stomach like crazy. i’m looking for a non-dairy version, i think i’m going to try soy milk powder. i would NOT recommend coffeemate

    Hi Lu,

    Thanks for your suggestion. I always use regular powdered milk when making polvoron.

    Are you lactose intolerant? It may have caused you to have diarrhea.
